What’s this all about?
180 degrees for 180 days, that’s it in a nutshell.
After 19 years in our Sammamish, WA home and 6 years in a transitional apartment, we’ve decided to depart our familiar Pacific Northwest life and go “homeless” for a while. Yes, we’ll still have our recent-years Casa Soleada in Baja Sur Mexico and we’ll eagerly spend a robust winter/spring there, but for the other 180 days . . . for that we’re taking a flyer – literally – and will be winging off to several places we’ve yet to explore. This website and blog will be a record of this 180º turn, both the half year of planning and prep, and then the 6 months of travel itself.

Who are you guys?
If you’d asked either of us 10+ years ago if this is where we expected to find ourselves when we exited our corporate jobs in our mid-60’s, we’d have shaken our heads and laughed. Yet, here we are, COVID-retired from educational publishing (me) and corporate event management (she) – and now living an expat snowbird’s life in a magical south Baja town called El Pescadero and planning wild adventures for the summer/autumn months elsewhere on the planet. We’ve enjoyed already some remarkable opportunities to visit a dozen other countries, but those explorations have only served to fuel the fire to visit more. So, here we go!

When and where are you going?
The when’s pretty easy: our nomad life travels begin on May 21 of 2025 and we’ll head back down to our Mexico home 180 days later on November 16.
The where’s a bit more complicated – at least it will be in the planning stages – but as we’ve found out already, there’s great value in locking in accommodations and airfares sooner than later. As such, our not-too-long-ago tentative itinerary is solidifying with each passing day. In broadest strokes, the plan includes two months in the Seattle area (friends/family), 2 weeks in the U.S. Carolinas, a month in Ireland and Scotland, and 7 weeks in Italy.

Why might I want to subscribe?
Nancy and I certainly aren’t the first Jane or Joe on the planet to be curious about what else is out there. Heck, we meet new ones every week down in Baja, and of every age, occupation, and lifestyle choice. Some expound on their global expeditions like they’ve never known anything otherwise, and others dream big, but haven’t yet found the right time or budget or travel mate. Yet, whoever you are, seasoned pro or wishful newbie, we think you might enjoy following our journey – our ins and outs of putting the whole adventure together, and then our actual travels. and the tales of what we discover along the way.
